A good game room feels like a destination, not a spare bedroom with a pool table in it. The quickest way to get there is to give each part of the room its own identity, and a lit sign does that better than almost anything else for the money. Here's how to plan it, zone by zone.
Every sign mentioned here is from our own shop: engraved acrylic LED signs, 12 × 8 inches, $29.95 each. Prices are current as of October 2026.
Start with a plan: one sign per zone
Before picking signs, walk the room and list its zones: the pool table, the dartboard, the card table, a gaming or arcade corner, the bar. Then follow three simple rules:
- One sign per zone. A sign works like a label. It tells people what happens in that corner. Two signs fighting over the same wall cancel each other out.
- Pick a color scheme. Blue reads cool and classic, the look of a pool hall or a jazz bar. Red reads retro and loud, like an old arcade. Mixing both works if each color stays in its own zone.
- Find your outlets first. Each sign runs on a USB power cord with an on/off switch and comes with a USB wall adapter, so it needs to hang within reach of an outlet or a USB port. Adhesive cord clips along the wall keep the cord tidy.
The pool table
The pool table is usually the centerpiece, so its sign sets the tone for the whole room. The Pool Hall LED sign has racked balls and crossed cues lit in blue. The Snooker LED sign is a little more traditional.
Where to hang it: on the wall at the end of the table, or above the cue rack. Hang it high enough that nobody clips it with a cue on the backswing.
More pool signs: billiards LED signs.
The dartboard
The Dart Club sign shows a numbered dartboard flanked by two darts. The Dart Bar sign has a single dart over bold lettering. Either one turns a board on the wall into a proper throwing lane.
Where to hang it: beside the board, not directly above or around it, where a stray dart could hit it. Keeping it out of the throwing line also keeps the glow out of the thrower's eyes.
The card table
If poker night is a regular thing, the Texas Hold 'Em sign makes the card table feel like a card room, even if it's a folding table most of the week.
Where to hang it: on the wall behind the host's seat, where every player can see it, rather than off to one side.
The arcade or gaming corner
The Arcade LED sign is lit in red, a nod to the arcades of the '80s and '90s. It suits a corner with a cabinet or a pinball machine, or a console setup that needs some retro character.
Where to hang it: above or beside the machines, at a height where it isn't reflecting off a TV screen.
More ideas for this corner: arcade LED signs.
The bar or lounge
If part of the room is for sitting back with a drink and some music, the Jazz LED sign fits. A saxophone forms the "J" inside an engraved border, lit in blue, so it pairs well with a pool-room scheme.
How many signs should a game room have?
For most rooms, two to four. Start with the centerpiece (usually the pool table), add one for each zone people actually use, and stop there. A room with a sign on every wall starts to look like a store rather than a room you hang out in.
Light the rest of the room so the signs stand out
- Dim the overhead lights. The signs glow best when the room isn't fully lit. Keep the bright light where you need it, such as over the pool table, and let the signs set the mood everywhere else.
- Use darker walls behind the signs. The engraved design shows up best against a darker wall.
- Put each sign on its own switch. Each sign has an inline on/off switch, so you can light just the zone that's in use.
Quick answers
How big are the signs?
12 × 8 inches (300 × 200 mm), with a slim black acrylic frame along the top.
What do they plug into?
Each sign comes with a USB power cord with an inline on/off switch and a USB wall adapter. You can also plug the cord into any USB port.
How do they hang?
Each sign comes with a metal hanging chain. Hang it from a nail or hook on the wall.
Are they neon?
No. The design is engraved into clear acrylic and lit by LEDs, so you get a neon-style glow without glass tubes.
